Our Homemade Focaccia Bread

Ever since the creation of focaccia bread in Italy, the bread has been used in dishes and appetizers around the world. Focaccia is airy and crispy, making it an amazing choice for sandwiches and appetizers. For us, focaccia is a staple in our kitchen. We use it for our veggie and Caesar paninis, along with croutons on our Caesar salads. Our staff and customers have fallen in love with the flatbread, and our love for it grew when we learned how easy it is to make ourselves.

Something we looked for when researching focaccia recipes was for it to be vegan. Our veggie panini has a vegan variant available, so this crucial aspect needed to be an option for us. We try to make it easier for every customer that walks through the door to be able to find a delicious panini to fit their dietary needs. Another focus of ours was simplicity when making the dough. Our dough is only four ingredients- flour, yeast, water, and olive oil- which helps streamline the process of making it.

The dough itself only takes about twenty minutes to make, with the blooming of the yeast taking up the majority of the prep time. The dough then rests in the cooler overnight before we sprinkle spices- and even more olive oil- over the top and bake it. To make it the perfect option for our paninis, when we bake the bread, we bake it for a little less time. This way, the bread isn’t too crispy before it gets put on our panini press, where it will further crisp. This ensures that our bread is crisped to perfection.
